During the IT Upgrades there will be times where some or all of your facilities systems will stop working or will behave strangely. Unfortunately, as the old system has to be removed before the new one can be installed there will be some periods where things do not work as they should. We will do our best to minimise the number of outages and their impact.
The network upgrade is the most disruptive part of the project. During the upgrade window is is likely that your computers, telephones, wifi, nurse call, vocera, CCTV and other important systems will not work at all, or will have degraded performance.
As the disruptions may be significant, Facility Managers will be working with you to ensure you are ready to continue providing services without the use of the IT systems. Additional staff will also be rostered on these shifts to ensure there is extra help at hand.
It is important that you have refreshed yourself on the Columbia procedures for an IT outage (below). Posters with a red traffic light will be put up and IT Helpdesk team members will be roaming through the facility to advise you the upgrade and outage is starting.
Please remain patient, focus on the residents - including by conducting regular in-person checks on them.
You do not need to lodge support tickets during this time.
Posters around the facility will be changed to a green traffic light to notify you that the upgrade is complete. IT Helpdesk team members will be roaming through the facility to advise you the upgrade and outage is complete and to check that all systems are working as they should be.
Please notify the IT Helpdesk of any issues post-upgrade so that they may be triaged and addressed.
The network upgrade is the least disruptive part of the project. During the upgrade window our IT Helpdesk team members will visit each workstation and change them over one-by-one. Posters with a red traffic light will be put up and IT Helpdesk team members will be roaming through the facility to advise you the upgrade and outage is starting.
Your internet, phones, vocera, CCTV and other important systems should remain online without any disruption.
You should expect each workstation to be unavailable, one by one, for about 30 minutes each. During the upgrade all the old computers will still work as the team works their way systematically through the facility.
Nothing! Please welcome our team members to the facility and be patient when they come around to replace your computer.
